A British soldier has been arrested today on suspicion of owning property that was to be used for terrorism.

Police said the 23-year-old man was detained near Folkestone, southeast England, yesterday.

As part of the same operation, police later raided a house in Bradford, northern England, and carried out a controlled explosion on a World War Two mortar.

"The arrest and search are not linked to the ongoing investigations into the incidents on July 7th and July 21st," a police spokeswoman said, referring to last month's bombings and attempted bombings in London.
