A judge has ordered that the proceeds of a brothel be donated to the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre.

Gardaí seized €900 at an apartment in Limerick city on February 13th last year, Limerick District Court was told yesterday.

Det Garda Oliver Foley said when he searched the apartment on Mulgrave Street, two Latvian women inside "readily admitted" that the premises was being used as a brothel.

The court heard that €900 was found in separate envelopes, which the women said belonged to their "pimp". They admitted the money was the proceeds of prostitution.

Judge Tom O'Donnell ordered that the money be donated to the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre.
