Tennis:James McGee, Sam Barry, James Cluskey and Colin O'Brien have been named on the Irish team to face Estonia in the Davis Cup early next month. The tie will take place in Riverview from February 1st-23rd.
The team have been training in La Manga over the past 12 days – where McGee was afforded the opportunity to practice alongside a certain Rafa Nadal – and although captain Gary Cahill is expecting a tough contest he believes the side have enough strength in depth to prevail.
“Estonia are tough first round opponents for us,” he said today. “But we have a strong and fit team and we are really looking forward to the tie.
“Hard work and a good team spirit will be key to a successful start to our 2013 Davis Cup campaign. We have just completed a 12 day intensive training camp in La Manga and confidence in the Irish camp is very high. On top of that, home advantage counts for a lot in Davis Cup."
