Guwahati, India - A radical Hindu group with links to the ruling BJP said yesterday it would force the government to drive out foreign Christian missionaries from India.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP, World Hindu Forum) alleged that expatriate missionaries were subverting Hindu culture through forced conversions and extending support to separatist rebels in troubled areas. The VHP has also demanded that Pope John Paul II apologise during his visit to the country next month for "atrocities committed by the church" in India.
