Racing: Glenfinn Captain provided in-form jockey Tony McCoy with another big-race success in the Grade Two Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

McCoy, victorious aboard Justified in the Powers Gold Cup on Sunday, was again seen at his best with an enterprising ride aboard Tom Taaffe's seven-year-old, who landed the spoils at odds of 9-4.

The seven-year-old was always at the head of affairs in the two-mile contest and stretched away in pleasing fashion from determined runner-up O'Muircheartaigh, who finished four lengths adrift of Taaffe's charge.

"It was probably not ideal him making the running but there wasn't going to be any pace and I wanted to ensure a true gallop," explained Taaffe. "He's put up a good brave show there but his jumping has probably won it for him.

"Tony was only on him four hurdles at Leopardstown (before he was unseated in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle in February) and he said he wants a fast-run race on good ground so it was some call from him.

"He now goes chasing. We'll have a look at him in a few days to see if he'll go to Punchestown.

"I'd say we are probably finished but if he comes out of it well we might go there - if not we'll go chasing in the autumn," the County Kildare handler told At The Races.
