Detailed information about Dublin and its inhabitants from the mid-19th century is contained in a new CD-ROM issued yesterday.
The CD-ROM, entitled The 1851 Dublin City Census, was compiled by Mr Sean Magee, a Dublin genealogist. The database lists every household in the city from the census, with the names and occupations of all those living in the city, including its many tenement areas. It also contains the first-edition Ordnance Survey town plans of the city from 1847, showing details of every house and the layouts of public buildings, churches, markets, industries, and gardens.
