BRITAIN: The baby daughter of Chancellor Gordon Brown was yesterday buried in a private ceremony following an emotional funeral service.

More than 400 mourners, among them the Prime Minister, Mr Blair, gathered at St Bryce Kirk in Kirkcaldy, Fife, to say goodbye to Jennifer Jane and give thanks for her brief life.

Mr Brown and his wife Sarah entered the church hand in hand five minutes before the start of the service.

Inside they heard the Chancellor's elder brother, Mr John Brown, describe how their daughter had "transformed the lives of her parents and all her family".

Jennifer Jane died in her parents' arms on Monday, at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, after suffering a brain haemorrhage.
