New York - A federal grand jury yesterday indicted 20 alleged leaders of a nationwide ring which lured dozens of Mexicans who cannot hear or speak to the United States to sell trinkets, officials said. The indictment includes a new charge of placing 62 hearing- and speech-impaired Mexicans, promised a better life in the United States, in involuntary servitude.
