A computer disk containing pornography has been found in possession of two long-serving criminals at Castlerea prison, Co Roscommon.
The disk was seized after prison officials carried out checks on computers used by prisoners for educational purposes, a prison service spokesman said.
He added "Recently we came across a computer disk with pornographic material on it. It has been taken away and is being investigated."
He would not confirm the nature of the prisoners' offences but said they were serving long sentences.
