Paris - The popularity of the French President, Mr Jacques Chirac, has risen to its highest level since early 1996, apparently buoyed by political cohabitation with a new Socialist government, an opinion poll showed yesterday. The BVA institute survey for the weekly Paris Match showed that 48 per cent of those questioned had a good impression of Mr Chirac as President, up from 40 per cent in May. - (Reuter)
