The Hong Kong action superstar, Jet Li, who featured in Lethal Weapon 4, makes his US starring debut in Romeo Must Die, cinema's latest spin on the fecund source that is Romeo and Juliet. He plays an athletic excop unjustly jailed in Hong Kong and escaping to California where his younger brother has been murdered in a war between Asian and black gangs. Singer Aaliyah plays the woman with whom he gets involved, unaware that her father is a sworn enemy of his own father.
