A Circuit Court judge has relaxed one of the conditions of bail of a Nigerian man accused of performing an illegal circumcision with a razor blade that resulted in a one-month-old baby's death in Waterford last August.
At Waterford Circuit Court yesterday, Judge Olive Buttimer agreed to reduce the number of times a week Mr Osagie Igbinedion must sign on at Kilkenny Garda station from seven to three days. She refused the State's request that Mr Igbinedion be required to notify the gardaí in advance of making any trips to other parts of the country.
The case against Mr Igbinedion, of Millennium Court, Hebron Road, Kilkenny, was further adjourned to the October session of Waterford Circuit Criminal Court.
He faces a charge of intentionally or recklessly performing a circumcision with a razor blade, which created a substantial risk of death or serious harm to Callis Osaghae under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person's Act 1997.
