Up to 800 new jobs are be created in Co Cork with the construction of a €200 million tourism resort located near Kinsale.
In total, the resort will employ 350 full-time staff and up to 450 indirect jobs are expected to be created in the local area.
The three year construction phase of the project will to bring a further 300 jobs to the area.
The project, the Kinsale Harbour Resort, is a collaboration between XCES Projects, Hyatt International and PGA Golf Management.
The 650 acre site was previously the Kinsale racecourse and is located on the Cork side of Kinsale, 20 minutes from Cork airport and 30 minutes from Ringaskiddy Ferry Port.
The resort, Ireland's first integrated tourism complex, will feature a 200-room 5-star deluxe Hyatt Hotel, a 260-acre championship golf course, an indoor and outdoor equestrian complex including a 500-seatrer indoor arena.
Hyatt International will be the overall resort operator, including the equestrian facility, and PGA Golf Management will operate, maintain and promote all golf related facilities on the site including the clubhouse operations.
The Minister for Enterpirse Trade and Employment, Mr Michael Martin, welcomed the announcement and said the resort would be a major boost for tourism in the southern region.
"Such an integrated, premium, multi-purpose investment will add substantial value to the Irish tourism product," he added.
