A head-on crash between a truck and a passenger bus carrying Hindu pilgrims killed 17 people in the western Indian state of Rajasthan.
Fourteen of the dead were women and two children were children; 26 passengers were injured, with seven of them in critical condition.
The crash occurred late last night in the Rajsamand district, some 350 kilometres south of Jaipur, the state capital.
The 75 passengers in the bus were on their way to the holy Hindu town of Pushkar in central Rajasthan, site of a sacred pond, police.
