The Archdeacon of Dublin has expressed concern that the Taoiseach may have differentiated between the Omagh bombing and earlier republican atrocities.

Speaking on Radio Ulster, the Ven Gordon Linney cited a speech by the Taoiseach at Bodenstown where he said those who perpetrated the Omagh atrocity would find nothing in the writings of Bobby Sands to justify their actions. He said the Taoiseach "was beginning to put Enniskillen and Warrington and the other atrocities in a different category as if there was some legitimacy in those that wasn't present in Omagh".
