Thumbs up Waste not, want notDell Ireland, supported by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and WEEE Ireland, is offering free recycling of electrical and electronic waste at its campus in Cherrywood, Co Dublin on June 16th.
Designed to raise awareness among consumers of the importance of electronic and electrical recycling, volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to help unload washing machines, TVs, computers and more from cars.
Thumbs up Liver let die? Former James Bond and one-time Saint Roger Moore is backing a campaign to ban the sale of foie gras in Britain because of the "cruel" process used to produce the food.
Moore sent a letter to British MPs in which he calls for an end to the production of "this brutal and inherently cruel 'delicacy'". The letter was accompanied by a DVD narrated by Moore showing undercover footage of foie gras farms, where duck and geese are force fed to fatten their livers.
Earlier this year a British government spokesman said it couldn't be banned in the UK due to EU laws, but campaigners are hoping that a public boycott could change things.
