The cost of a checked-in bag weighing 15kg on other flights under three hours will now cost €30, while a bag weighing 20kg will cost €35.

Passengers on flights over 3 hours checked bag fees will remain the same.

Streamlined system

Ryanair's chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said the airline has streamlined its bag charging system, with a range of six bag fee options.

Mr Jacobs said the changes will affect more than 92 per cent of the 116 million passengers it expects to fly with the airline this year.

Passengers will now pay reduced bag fees and will pay the same price for a bag regardless of whether it was booked during the initial purchase of flights or added later.

Furthermore, passengers will also be able to add bags to their bookings via the Ryanair app up to 3 hours before their scheduled time of departure.
