London - The British couple involved in the trans-Atlantic fight over twin girls adopted via the Internet have been served with papers ordering them to appear in court in the United States, their rivals' lawyer said yesterday. A lawyer acting for the California couple, Mr Richard and Mrs Vickie Allen, served the court papers to Mr Alan and Mrs Judith Kilshaw, of Buckley, Wales, immediately after they had appeared on the Oprah Winfrey talk show on Thursday where the rowing couples had confronted each other for the first time.

A British court yesterday ruled that the children should remain in care in Britain.
