Court remands man over loyalist weapons find

A man has been remanded in custody in connection on charges connected with the possession of guns and explosives.

A man has been remanded in custody in connection on charges connected with the possession of guns and explosives.

Mr Phillip George Shaw (39) is accused of having the arms at his home in the Rathcoole Estate on the northern outskirts of Belfast.

Ten guns, two pipe bombs, a booby-trap and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were found in two bags in the loft of a house in Belfast's loyalist Rathcoole estate on Tuesday.

A detective told the court that, when charged, Mr Shaw made no reply.

The accused was remanded in custody until the 21st November and is expected to make an application for bail by Friday.
