An inquest into an accident in which five people died was adjourned yesterday to January 15th after parents of the dead complained that they had not been notified that it was taking place. One parent, Mr John Byrne, a father of two sisters who died, also complained to the coroner about the removal of their children's organs which, he claimed, was done without the consent of the families.
The accident happened in September 1998 when a school minibus was struck by a lorry coming in the opposite direction on the N11 near Arklow, Co Wicklow. The bus was on its way to a school for children with special needs. Two pupils, two care workers and the bus driver were killed.
