Cannabis worth €1m found in soap shipment

Three men arrested following the seizure of 50kg of cannabis at Dublin Port

Gardaí have arrested three men following the discovery of 50kg of cannabis which was hidden in a consignment of soap in Dublin Port.

An intelligence-led operation between Revenue’s Customs Service and gardaí meant authorities had prior knowledge of the shipment’s arrival, and it is believed the men were detained when they went to collect the drugs, which have an estimated street value of €1 million.

Revenue officials say the consignment of soap originated in Spain. The three men are currently being held at Mountjoy Garda Station and investigations are ongoing.
