Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man for questioning following a €228,000 cannabis seizure in woodland near Blarney, northwest of the city, late last night.

Officers from the Cork City divisional drugs squad arrested the 36-year-old man as he attended to a cannabis resin stash in woods at Kilclough, Vicarstown at about 11pm last night.

The man, who is originally from Co Limerick but living in North Cork, was arrested under drugs trafficking legislation and brought to Gurranebraher Garda station for questioning, where he is being detained under provisions of section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, as amended.

The Cork City divisional search team are assisting drug squad detectives today in a follow-up search of the area of the heavily wooded area in Vicarstown, some 10 miles from Cork city.
