A 43-year-old man appeared before Naas District Court on a charge of murder on Friday night.

James Jimmy Lammon, whose address was given as Cardington in Athy, was charged with the murder of Jason Doogue at Greenhills in Athy, on August 21st.

Det Sgt Sean Boland told of arresting Mr Lammon at 8.20pm on Friday at Kildare garda station.

He said Mr Lammon remained silent after the charge was read out.

Defending solicitor David Gibbons handed in a statement of means to the court and free legal aid was granted.

Judge Patrick Clyne remanded the defendant in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on September 2nd.
