A man has appeared before a judge charged with causing criminal damage to a wall outside Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s constituency office in Castlebar, Co Mayo, over the weekend.
Liam Heffernan (30), of Kilnageer, Belcarra, Castlebar, is also charged with breaches of public order outside the office, which is situated at Tucker Street, on Saturday night.
At Castlebar District Court, Garda John Melia gave evidence of arresting, charging and cautioning Mr Heffernan.
To the charge of causing criminal damage to a wall “owned by Mr Kenny”, the accused replied “he damaged my wall in the past”.
In reply to each of the public order charges, Mr Heffernan said “I guess so” and “that’s okay, bang on”.
Mr Heffernan was remanded on continuing bail until February by Judge Mary Devins.
