A former air hostess yesterday avoided jail after continuing to breach court orders not to contact her former boyfriend.

Judge Patrick Durcan told Ennis District Court that Siobhán Downes (34) of Childers Road, Ennis, had been unable to get over her infatuation with the man, resulting in successive breaches of a protection order.

The court heard the ex-boyfriend was granted a protection order last February after Ms Downes had persistently made contact with him after their relationship broke down.

The court heard there had been six breaches of the protection order since then.

The judge told Ms Downes that if she did not agree to a programme under the care of her GP to deal with her problems he would send her to jail.
