The death of a man while in custody in Dundalk Garda station is being investigated by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC).
The incident was referred to GSOC by the Garda Síochána under section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act on Thursday night and GSOC investigators are at the scene.
A GSOC spokesman said no further details would be made available until the deceased’s relatives were informed.
