A Dublin Bus driver is to go on trial charged with careless driving causing the death of a cyclist.
Mary White (55) was cycling along Burlington Road at about 9.40pm on November 17th, 2014 when she was hit by a bus and suffered serious injuries.
She was in a critical condition when taken to St Vincent’s Hospital and died two days later.
Dublin Bus driver Osborn Best Irabor (51) had been arrested by arrangement and was charged earlier this month at Donnybrook Garda station.
The father-of-three was charged with careless driving causing death of Ms White.
Garda Michael McHugh gave evidence at Dublin District Court detailing the arrest. He told Judge McCarthy the defendant made no reply when the charge was put to him under caution.
He said the DPP had directed that Mr Irabor must face trial on indictment and the case is to go forward to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
Defence solicitor Brian Keenan said consented to an eight-week adjournment sought by gardaí to allow time to prepare a book of evidence. There was no objection to bail.
Judge McCarthy ordered Mr Irabor to appear again at the district court on June 23rd when he is expected to be served with the book of evidence and then returned for trial to the higher court.
He was granted legal aid by the court.
