Further tests due on Rathfarnam body

Human skeletal remains were discovered at Killakee Mountain, Rathfarnham on Friday

Gardaí have confirmed that remains found at Killakee Mountain, Rathfarnam, on Friday are those of a woman.

A Garda spokesman said the results of a post-mortem examination carried out on the skeletal remains are “inconclusive” and further tests are to be carried out to identify the body and to determine the cause of her death.

The body discovered at Killakee Mountain on Friday by a woman who was out walking with her dog.

No details are currently available about the age of the body, or how long the remains may have been lying at the scene.

Gardaí said earlier that the discovery could not be linked to any missing persons case or unsolved crime until the details of reports by the pathologist and the forensic specialist were made available.
