An investigation into the death of a 4-year-old boy in Co Limerick in March is nearing completion, with a file on the case due to be sent to the DPP, whose office will decide whether criminal charges should be pursued.

The boy, Mason TJ O'Connell Conway, was discovered with serious head injuries in a house in Rathbane, Limerick, on March 13th. He died from his injuries three days later at Children's Health Ireland, Temple Street, Dublin, and a Garda investigation was begun.

In the latest phase of that inquiry, a woman in her 20s was arrested on Wednesday under warrant issued by a District Court Judge under Section 10 of the Criminal Justice Act. She was detained at Roxboro Road Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

She was questioned by detectives and the Garda said on Thursday morning she had been released without charge. A file on the case was now being finalised to be sent to the DPP.
