Gardaí have uncovered what they believe was a drug-mixing facility in Dublin and also found a submachine gun and ammunition during the same operation.

The find was made in Castleknock in the west of the city as part of the ongoing investigation into organised crime in Dublin on Monday.

Gardaí found the firearm and ammunition along with a significant quantity of cocaine, mixing agents and other drug paraphernalia when they raided an apartment.

A man in his 30s has been arrested and is being questioned under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Blanchardstown Garda station.

The operation was intelligence-based and involved the Drugs and Crime Bureau, including the new Serious Crime Task Force, established earlier in the year in response to increased tensions in Dublin gangland and a fresh round of gun feuding.
