Gardaí have renewed their appeal for information over the murder of Christopher Zambra in Drimnagh on Sunday.

Zambra (38), Galtymore Rd, Drimnagh, was ambushed on Cooley Road at 3pm when two vehicles blocked his car at the front and rear as he was driving to visit a family member.

A large number of bullets were fired at him while he was still in his Audi car and then also as he tried to flee. He collapsed outside a house and died.

A Nissan Qashqai used in the attack was found on fire on Bedmadigan Road close by with a handgun inside which is believed to have been the murder weapon.

A post mortem has been completed and the results passed to the investigation team. The investigation is ongoing including house to house enquiries and the review of CCTV.

Anyone who was on Cooley Road between 2.30pm and 3.30pm last Sunday and who may have seen anything unusual, suspicious or the shooting itself is asked to contact gardaí.

In addition anyone who may have seen the Nissan Qashqai drive into Benmadigan Road where it was then set on fire is asked to contact the incident room at Sundrive Road Garda Station on 01-6666600, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
