Gardaí in west Dublin have seized cocaine with an estimated street value of €140,000 from a house in Lucan.

Officers from Ronanstown Garda station made the seizure at 7pm yesterday.

The operation involved the recovery of 2kg of "suspected cocaine", and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A 20 year-old woman was arrested at the scene but was later released without charge.

The drugs were recovered as part of an ongoing intelligence-led investigation into the illegal sale and supply of drugs in the west Dublin area.

Gardaí say such operations use “advanced analytical and intelligence methods” to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.

It is the second major seizure by police in the capital in three weeks, following the discovery of €500,000 worth of cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy at a house in Ballymun in January.
