Man charged over seizure of €110,000 worth of cannabis in separate operation in Cork

Four men have been arrested after herbal cannabis worth an estimated €3.2 million was seized in Co Meath.

As part of a special operation targeting organised crime, gardaí stopped and searched a number of people and vehicles from about 4pm on Tuesday in the Ashbourne area.

The 160kg haul of the drug was uncovered after gardaí linked to a number of divisions searched a business premises in the area.

Four men aged between 25 to 61 years were arrested for drug-trafficking offences and are currently in custody at Finglas and Kells Garda stations, a Garda spokesman said.

Cork seizure

Seperately, gardaí in Cork have seized 5.5kg of cannabis with a street value of €110,000.

They arrested two men in Douglas, Co Cork, after a search at a house in Cogan’s Cottages, Ballinlough Road, Douglas, on Tuesday afternoon.

The two men (one in his late 50s and one who is 30) were arrested at the scene.

One of the men has since been charged in relation to the seizure, while the other is still being questioned at Anglesea Street Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug-Trafficking) Act, 1996.
