A man apprehended by gardaí who suspected he was on his way to carry out an attack linked to the Kinahan-Hutch feud will appear in court on Saturday.
The suspect, aged in his 30s, was arrested along with a woman during an operation in Ashtown, Dublin on Wednesday.
A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in respect of the woman who has been released without charge.
The pair were approached in their car at a shop and gardaí found a firearm, a number of rounds of ammunition, a Halloween mask and a container of petrol.
The man is known to gardaí and aligned to the Hutch side of the feud which has claimed 12 lives to date.
Gardaí had the couple and their vehicle under surveillance. A statement following the operation said it was specifically targeted at organised crime.
Sources have said that while there has been a cooling period in the ongoing gangland dispute, both sides are still plotting against their rivals with a view to committing further killings.
The male suspect is expected to appear before a sitting of Dublin District Court on Saturday morning charged in connection with the investigation.
