Some €488,000 cash found during a search of a truck near Dublin Port and seized by gardaí

A 34-year-old man who was arrested over suspected money laundering after gardaí seized €488,000 in cash from a truck near Dublin Port has been released without charge.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped a truck as it exited the Port Tunnel at Dublin Port, shortly after 8pm on Monday.

Some €488,000 in cash was found during a search of the truck and seized by gardaí. The search was part of an ongoing garda investigation targeting individuals believed to be involved in organised crime.

The man was arrested following the discovery of the large amount of cash in the vehicle. A spokesman for the Garda said on Wednesday he had been released without charge.

A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and investigations are ongoing.
