A 47-year-old man was arrested and charged yesterday following an attempted robbery at a fast food restaurant in Dublin.

Gardaí said a man, who had a knife, entered the restaurant in Phibsboro at about 1.55pm and threatened staff.

He demanded money but left the scene empty handed. Gardaí arrested the man a short distance from the premises and placed him in custody at Mountjoy garda station.

The man was later charged in connection with the attempted robbery and will appear before the court today.

No one was injured in the incident.
