A man is to contest allegations he harassed Belfast woman Maíria Cahill.

Stephen Altimas is accused of pursuing a campaign against Ms Cahill in February this year. He faces charges of harassing her and her father, as well as publishing material intended or likely to identify a person involved in any separate proceedings.

Mr Altimas (36) appeared before Belfast Magistrates’ Court to confirm his attitude to the alleged offences. Defence solicitor Niall O’Neill said his client strenuously denied all three charges.

Mr Altimas was released on bail to return to court in two weeks, when a date for his hearing will be fixed.
