A man arrested in connection with a house fire that killed two children and their aunt in Co Kildare 30 years ago has been released from custody.
Kerrie Byrne (3) Mary Ellen Byrne (8) and their aunt Barbara Doyle (20) died at the children's home in Church Lane, Kilcock on September 20th, 1987.
On Tuesday, a man in his 50s, who had never come to the attention of gardaí before, was arrested in connection with the deaths.
A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Ms Doyle was babysitting her nieces for her sister Elizabeth Byrne and her husband Aidan Byrne at the time of the incident.
Last week, on the anniversary of the fire, gardaí announced they had upgraded the inquiry into the three deaths to homicides after a cold case review.
The suspect was arrested in north Co Dublin before on Tuesday afternoon and was taken to Leixlip Garda station from where the investigation is being run.
