Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry in relation to a shooting incident in Drogheda this evening.

A man in his thirties received a single gun-shot to one of his legs in the Moneymore estate just before 6pm.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

The man is known to gardaí and has a number of convictions.

The shooting happened while it was still bright out and children were out playing. There are no reports of anyone else being injured.
