A 23-year-old man was seriously injured this morning after his car collided with a stone wall just outside Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

Gardaí are investigating the single vehicle road traffic crash which took place at Drumnohoagh on the Letterkenny to Derry Road at around 12.50am. The male driver, who was alone in the car, was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

Gardaí have closed the road, which is 2km outside Letterkenny, for a forensic examination and diversions are in place.

They have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have been on the Letterkenny to Derry road between 12.30am and 1am to contact them on 074 9167100.
