Masked men ‘steal €190,000’ in Blanchardstown armed raid

Men wearing balaclavas and boiler suits target security van outside shopping centre

Gardaí are investigating the theft of a large sum of money in Blanchardstown after two armed men threatened staff of a cash-in-transit van on Sunday.

Two armed men approached the staff of the security van who had collected cash from an ATM shortly after 12.30pm outside the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre. The men were wearing balaclavas and dressed in blue boiler suits.

One of the men was carrying a handgun, while the second threatened the staff with a hammer, according to gardaí.

It is understood the men fled the scene with €190,000 in cash from the van. There were no injuries in the incident.
