A 20-year-old man has died following a motorcycle crash in Blessington, Co Wicklow, on Tuesday evening.

The crash happened at 8.30pm at the Demense, Blessington. There were no other vehicles involved. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's body was removed to Naas General Hospital where a post mortem examination is due to be carried out later today.

The motorcyclist is the 7th to die out of a total of 53 people killed on the country’s roads so far this year.

The Ring Rd in Blessington remains closed at the Oak Drive junction and motorists are being advised to access the Ring Rd via the Naas Rd. Gardaí have issued an appeal asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them at Baltinglass Garda Station on 059 6482610.
