A researcher at NUI Galway School of Law will lead a €1 million EU-funded project on evictions across all EU member states, investigating national legal frameworks and the extent of evictions across the continent.
The research, led by Dr Padraic Kenna, will identify effective early intervention and preventative measures and create a profile of evicted households, risk factors and risk groups.
Patterns of evictions will be analysed in the context of factors such as the economic crisis, welfare systems and legal practices.
The project, which will take two years, was awarded following a competitive tendering process by the European Commission.
