Gardaí investigating the murder of Iranian criminal Hamid Sanambar have arrested three men.
Mr Sanambar (42) was one of three men killed in the general Coolock area within a one-week period in 2019. The killings are believed to be linked to a feud between criminal groups operating in Coolock which has claimed a total of five lives.
On May 28th, 2019, Mr Sanambar was shot dead on Kilbarron Avenue, Coolock, outside the home of his associate Sean Little, who had been murdered a week earlier. The Iranian had been paying his respects at the Little home at the time. He was also a suspect in organising Little's murder.
The following November, another man, Eoin Boylan (22) was shot to death on Clonshaugh Avenue, Coolock, as part of the feud.
On Monday, the Garda said it has arrested three men, all aged in their twenties, in connection with Mr Sanambar’s murder.
The suspects are being held for questioning at different Garda stations in Dublin where they can be detained for a maximum of seven days.
Mr Sanambar originally arrived in Ireland as an asylum seeker before being granted permission to remain. He lived in various parts of the country, including Longford, Cork city and, at the time of his murder, Priorswood, Clonshaugh in Dublin 17.
Gang
He was suspected of luring Little to north county Dublin where he was shot dead at the behest of a Finglas drugs gang.
Gardaí suspect he may also have been involved in the murder of Jordan Davis (22) in Darndale, Dublin, the following day. He was also linked to two other shootings in Dublin in which men were wounded.
Mr Sanambar was given a three-year suspended sentence in 2015 for his role in the violent robbery of two women working in a Cork brothel in 2012.
Cash, laptops and mobile phones to the value of about €5,000 were stolen and one of the women had her jaw broken. Mr Sanambar, who had facial tattoos, carried out that robbery with Irish men he claimed to have met road bowling while living in Cork about eight years ago.
