Three people have died and two others were seriously injured in a series of weekend road crashes.
A male motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving his bike and a car in Co Wexford on Saturday night. The crash happened on the L4036 near Campile at about 11pm, and the 38-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death brings to 129 the number of people killed on Ireland’s roads so far this year, 22 more than during same period in 2015.
The Road Safety Authority has expressed its concern over the deaths, describing the increase as "a real worry".
Spokesman Brian Farrell said an average of 15 people die on our roads every month, so the difference between 2015 and 2016 was "over a month's worth of fatalities".
Also on Saturday, in Co Galway, a man and woman aged in their 70swere airlifted to hospital following a two-car collision on the N59 at Kylemore.
