Two men are being held by gardai after a search of a van led to the discovery of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €700,000.

The seizure and arrests were made following a Garda operation in Co Wexford. The van was searched at Ballymurn near Enniscorthy this morning where the drugs were found.

“The search was carried out as part of an ongoing investigation targeting the supply and distribution of drugs by members from the Wexford Garda Division,” said a garda spokesman.

The two men, aged in their 30s and 50s, were arrested at the scene. They were detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Enniscorthy Garda Station where they can be held for up to seven days.
