Two people have been arrested by gardaí investigating the suspected gangland killing of a man in Dublin almost a year ago.
Karl Wynne (45) was shot while sitting out at St Dominic's Shopping Centre in Tallaght on May 30th when two men on a motorbike pulled up. One of the men opened fire and wounded the victim before they fled the scene. Wynne died in hospital some six weeks later.
Two men were arrested in Finglas this morning in connection with the shooting. They are the first people to be detained in connection with the case.
The men - aged 28 and 25 - are being detained at Tallaght Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Gardaí believe Wynne was shot by criminals who were familiar with his movements and had him under surveillance in the days leading up to the shooting.
The victim, a convicted armed robber, was from Finglas and had been known to gardaí for more than two decades. He had served a number of prison sentences. His death was linked to an shooting at a gym in Finglas about two weeks before he was wounded.
