At a special sitting of Limerick District Court on Saturday evening, Judge Mary Larkin was told Mr Hayes replied “yeah” when he was charged at Henry Street Garda Station earlier on Saturday.

The court heard Mr Hogan had nothing to say when charged.

Both defendants were granted legal aid and their solicitors indicated they would not be applying for bail on Saturday evening, but would make applications next week.

Judge Larkin noted this and remanded both men in custody until Tuesday morning, May 5th.
