Two men are due to appear in court this morning charged in connection with the discovery of an oil laundering plant with the capacity to produce €1.5 million worth of illicit fuel per year.
Gardai uncovered the operation in Co Meath following a joint intelligence operation with Revenue yesterday evening.
Two men at the site, located at Macetown, Rathfeigh, Co Meath, were arrested while investigators moved to confiscate fuel and ancillary equipment.
The men, aged 19 and 20 years, were held for questioning overnight at Navan and Ashbourne garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
According to a garda statement, the find included equipment sufficient to launder some three million litres of fuel annually.
The men have been charged by gardai and are due to appear before Navan District Court later this morning.
