A man is being questioned by gardaí after a consignment of cannabis valued at more than €1.6 million was seized in west Dublin.
The intelligence-led operation by Revenue's Customs officers and the Garda resulted in a man driving a vehicle being stopped on Thursday in Clondalkin.
When the vehicle was searched, 155kgs of cannabis resin and 35kg of cannabis herb, with a combined value of €1.63 million, were discovered.
The joint investigation by Revenue's Customs service and the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) is the latest phase of a larger ongoing inquiry into a drugs gang with members in Dublin and Meath.
After the drugs were found in the vehicle in Clondalkin on Thursday a 33-year-old man was arrested for questioning by the Garda.
He has been detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 and is being questioned at Ronanstown Garda station as the Garda investigation continues.
